References and Sources of Medical Information

The blood pressure categories, heart rate interpretation, lifestyle advice, crisis-level guidance and reminder rules in 我的血壓 (My Blood Pressure) are based on the published medical guidelines and Taiwan government sources listed in the table above, each with a link to the original. In the App, tap the 資料來源 (Sources) link next to any result, or go to Settings › 關於 (About) › 醫療資訊來源 (Medical Sources), to open them.

How the App uses these sources

  • Blood pressure categories: the home blood pressure target of 130/80 follows the 2022 Taiwan Hypertension Guidelines (Taiwan Society of Cardiology and Taiwan Hypertension Society); the category names (Normal, Elevated, Stage 1, Stage 2) follow the 2017 ACC/AHA guideline and the American Heart Association; low blood pressure (<90/60) follows NHLBI. When systolic and diastolic fall into different categories, the higher one is used.
  • Crisis level: at ≥180/120 the App advises resting 5 minutes and measuring again; if it is still high, or if there is chest pain, shortness of breath, severe headache, blurred vision, weakness on one side or difficulty speaking, call 119 (Taiwan's emergency number) immediately, following American Heart Association guidance.
  • Heart rate: a resting heart rate of 60–100 beats per minute is the normal range; <60 is slow and >100 is fast, following the American Heart Association and MedlinePlus.
  • 722 home monitoring (7 consecutive days, morning and evening, 2 readings each time): following Taiwan's Health Promotion Administration and the 2022 Taiwan Hypertension Guidelines.
  • Chronic prescription refill dates: following Taiwan's National Health Insurance Administration, the 2nd and later refills must be picked up within 10 days before the previous supply runs out (the last day is not counted); the prescription is valid until the last day of medication from the final dispensing.
  • Common medication list: checked against Taiwan FDA's open data on drug licenses (active and unexpired licenses). It only makes typing easier; always follow your doctor's prescription and the medication label.

The App is a personal record and reminder tool. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose, and does not replace a doctor's judgement. Always follow your doctor's advice on personal targets and medication.
