MenuLens Support

Start scanning

Select your interface language, translation target and source/target currencies. Open the camera, tap text to focus and use zoom controls or pinch to zoom. Pause freezes the recognized frame; play resumes scanning.

How the ten free scans work

One use is counted when text is first recognized after opening the scanner. Multiple captures in that session do not use additional scans. An empty scene, denied camera permission or a failed camera start does not count. Closing and reopening starts a new scan. Remaining uses are stored locally; deleting the app removes local data.

Missing translations

Check the selected translation language. Apple may need an internet connection to download language models or display a system confirmation. Keep text clear and avoid reflections. Text without an available translation remains visible in the original camera image.

Rates and offline use

Supported currencies: USD, TWD, JPY, EUR, GBP and KRW. Select the actual currency of the price tag. ExchangeRate-API provides daily reference rates, not live bank buy/sell quotes. A connection is required to fetch rates initially. Missing conversions display a dash; data older than 48 hours is marked as old.

Capture, save and share

Capture combines the latest recognized real camera frame with its translations and converted prices. Hold still or pause before capture. Save to Photos or use the system share sheet. The image includes provider attribution and the rate timestamp. Text that has not finished translating remains in its original form.

Purchases and restoration

Lifetime access is a non-consumable in-app purchase. Restore Purchases rechecks purchases for your Apple Account. Family members must enable purchase sharing and meet Apple's sharing conditions. Cancelled and pending purchases do not unlock access; refunds and revoked sharing update entitlements.

Permissions

Camera access is used for scanning. Add-only Photos permission is requested when saving. Review permissions in iPhone Settings → MenuLens.
